Most of my days start with dark roast coffee and a quick check-in on Facebook.
Today’s Facebook news feed started with a video of a horse being shot in the head. I scroll down a bit further and see another post of a horse that is severely neglected. Scrolling down, I see a horse owned by a killbuyer, and another owner posting their aged horse that is no longer sound for riding. Thier post details “Must go ASAP!!!”
By the time I finish my first cup of coffee, I am so wound-up, I am gasping for air. I take a
moment to breath-in-a-bag, continue on the daily battle to improve the welfare of horses.
The problem is we need photos of Fred, the standardbred rescue horse. He likes to drink beer with his adoptive parents. He likes to make funny faces at them too….I love Fred. I want more Freds on Facebook.
See my next post “A day in the life of FRED” the fabulous story of a horse rescued from slaughter livin’ the dream of any horse…
Ever wish people would stop posting graphic photos of distressed horses (or animals)? Ever wish we could just eliminate all those images of horses owned by killbuyers, slaughter-bound, neglected, abused, or abandoned? YAH, I do too…that’s why I spend my free time grinding forward saving one horse at a time and promoting Microchipping as means to reduce the unwanted horse population. If we fix the problem, and eliminate the source of these images – Facebook will just be a happier place….Don’t you think?
ERN is committed to improving the welfare of horses offlines, so the images we see online are a reflection of a happier horse world.
BTW, I hear Fred has his own calendar. Email seabtch@yahoo.com to learn more….
